How Can I Stop My Partner From Drinking So Much On Our Wedding Day?

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Weddings are a day for celebrating. Most people expect food and drinks at a wedding, but it is usually up to the bride and groom to decide whether they want alcohol to be served. There are also different ways of doing that. Some people have an open bar, while others have a cash bar. Some couples offer beer and wine.

Whatever the case, having alcohol at your wedding is a great way to help your guests unwind and celebrate. But, what happens if your partner starts celebrating a little too much? How can you keep them from drinking so much on your big day?

Talk to Them Before Things Get Out of Hand

It’s perfectly okay to have a drink or two to celebrate your day. But, no one wants to look back on their wedding day and remember getting drunk. Beyond that, your partner likely won’t relish waking up the next day with a severe headache.

So, if you see that your partner has had a few drinks, talk to them about it. Encourage them to slow down or try a non-alcoholic beverage for a while to see how they feel. Chances are, they just got caught up in the celebration. Remind them that you both want to be able to remember your wedding day, not have it be a blur because of too much alcohol.

You can also talk to your partner about any concerns you might have surrounding alcohol before the wedding. Sometimes, bridesmaids and groomsmen will have wine, champagne, or something stronger together before the ceremony even starts. Again, it can be a good idea to remind your partner that you both need to be sharp for the ceremony, and you shouldn’t have to worry about stumbling over words.

Don’t Serve Alcohol

One way to completely eliminate the problem of your partner drinking too much on your wedding day is simply not to serve alcohol at all. In fact, this is becoming a more popular trend.

Get creative and fun with your drink selection. Have vintage soda is glass bottles that your guests can choose from, or, depending on the season of your wedding, set up a hot chocolate bar where guests can add their own toppings and mix-ins. Options like hot cider, coffee, and tea are also wonderful and your guests will love them.

If you’re worried that alcohol could become an issue at your wedding, take it off the table entirely. It’s one less thing to worry about, and it’s something you shouldn’t have to stress over on one of the most important days of your life.

Be open and honest with your partner about any concerns you might have regarding alcohol. It’s important to start your marriage with honesty, and if you feel that strongly about something, they will respect it. That way, you can both enjoy your special day without having to worry about how the effects of alcohol could come between you.
