Newborn Photoshoot FAQs

1. What to Bring?

All newborn photoshoots are held at my fully equipped home studio, where everything you need is ready and waiting. From the moment you arrive, you’ll have access to a wide selection of outfits, wraps, stuffies, and props. All carefully prepared to help create beautiful, unique images.

Of course, if you have a special or meaningful item for your little one, perhaps a family heirloom or a favourite toy, feel free to bring it along. I’ll be happy to thoughtfully incorporate it into your session, adding a personal touch to your images.

One important thing to remember is to bring plenty of milk and nappies. Believe it or not, being a model can be thirsty work, and your little one might go through more nappies than you’d expect during the shoot!

2. How long do the Photoshoots Last?

My sessions are created to be very relaxed and to put you and your baby first at every step. Typically lasting between 3 – 4 hours, allowing plenty of time to stop whether that’s to settle your baby, feed, nappy changes, or even just to have a chat about what each setup offers.

Please do not be anxious, I’m a professional with three children of my own, so I certainly know it can be hard and stressful.

Even though its a little daunting to think up to 4 hours for your little ones to have a photoshoot, don’t worry at all, you can simply sit and relax, chat to me the whole time or just sit back and take in the ambience.

Most of my parents end up so relaxed they start guessing which theme songs are playing from my instrumental music in the background!

3. What’s the best age for my newborn to be photographed?

Most photographers recommend scheduling your session within the first 2 weeks after birth, ideally between 5–14 days, when your little ones are naturally sleepiest and easiest to pose. However, beautiful images can be captured beyond this window too, it’s just a little more about capturing natural moments as baby becomes more alert

4. Can siblings, pets, or parents join the session?

Absolutely, and I encourage it! Including siblings and parents adds warmth and connection to your images. These shared moments create treasured memories of your family’s first days together. Let me know ahead of time so we can ensure there’s plenty of time for relaxed, natural group shots. My Studio is not huge, so 2 adults and 2 children is about right.

5. Is it safe for my baby during the shoot?

Yes ! your baby’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. I have years of experience as a photographer and work gently, with baby-led posing and plenty of breaks for feeds or cuddles. My studio is kept warm and calm, and I use only soft, clean props and blankets to ensure a safe, relaxed environment throughout.

6. Editing Time & Editing Including

After your photoshoot, your images will be carefully filtered and edited in preparation to be showcased to you via a secure online gallery. At this stage, all images will feature watermarks until final payment is received. This way, you can enjoy reviewing your images at your own pace, either on your own or with loved ones, from the comfort of the secure online gallery.

Once you’ve made your selections, the chosen images will receive light editing and final retouching as needed (please note this excludes advanced editing). Typically, light editing and retouching include cropping, lighting adjustments, colour corrections, skin and hair enhancements, and minor object removals, all designed to make your images even more polished and professional.

7. When will we receive our edited photos?

You’ll typically receive your fully edited gallery within 2 to 6 weeks after the session, depending on my workload. I take time to carefully hand-edit each image to ensure a soft, polished finish you’ll love. Once ready, you’ll be sent a secure online gallery to view and select your favourites, with print and album options available too.
