There are wedding venues that leave an impression the moment you arrive, and then there’s Coombe Abbey. Surrounded by 500 acres of beautiful Warwickshire parkland, the historic 12th-century former abbey offers a setting that feels both grand and deeply romantic. For Louise and Matt’s October wedding, it provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with warmth, emotion, and timeless elegance.

As their wedding photographer, it was clear from the very beginning that this was going to be a special celebration. The atmosphere throughout the morning was calm and full of anticipation, with family and friends gathering inside the abbey’s incredible historic surroundings while the autumn sunshine poured across the grounds outside.

October weddings in the Midlands can often be unpredictable, but Louise and Matt were incredibly lucky with the weather. The day brought clear skies, golden autumn light, and unusually warm temperatures, allowing guests to fully enjoy the stunning outdoor spaces around Coombe Abbey. The gardens and parkland looked spectacular in the soft seasonal colours, creating the perfect setting for relaxed portraits and natural moments together.

Louise looked effortlessly elegant as she made her way through the abbey, while Matt’s reaction during the ceremony said everything about the connection they share. Throughout the day there was a genuine sense of closeness between everyone attending. Emotional moments during the speeches blended perfectly with laughter, celebrations, and a packed dance floor later into the evening.

One of the things that makes Coombe Abbey such a unique wedding venue is the atmosphere it creates for photography. Every part of the venue offers character, from the historic architecture and candlelit interiors to the dramatic gardens and lakeside views outside. As the sun began to set across the Warwickshire countryside, we were able to capture some beautiful golden-hour portraits that perfectly reflected the calm and romantic feel of the entire day.
