Kilworth House Wedding Photography
The Vibe
Meghan and Callum wanted an elegant, timeless day that still felt incredibly personal and warm not just a beautiful backdrop. Kilworth House, with its stunning Victorian architecture and sweeping parkland, gave us that perfect blend of grandeur and intimacy.
The Challenge; Kilworth is gorgeous, but it’s tricky!
Lighting Battles I had to jump between the moody, rich interiors, think dark wood and low light and the bright, high-contrast outdoor lawns and the Conservatory. My job was to make sure the light felt natural and beautiful everywhere.
Making it Personal for Meghan & Callum the house is huge! We focused on finding those quiet moments in the ornate hallways and gardens to capture the feel of their deep connection, not just the look of the venue.
My Approach I kept the equipment minimal and the focus on ambient lightI, using flash indoors with the darker rooms is a must.
The interiors have lots of window light and prime lenses like my 35mm to keep the focus tight and shallow, giving those detail shots a really luxurious, high-end feel.
The Grounds I used the golden hour perfectly to showcase the scale of the parkland, but always kept the couple as the central, warm element in the frame.
Key Success the images captured in the courtyard were a hit. The diffused glass light made everything soft and romantic. It’s a perfect shot that captures the unique architecture of Kilworth while highlighting a tender moment.
In the end, the photos captured the high-end sophistication of the venue while keeping the emotion front and centre.
Bridal Preparations
Meghan didn’t wish to capture any getting ready shots, she had asked me to capture the fun elements during the ceremony arrivals and at Kilworth house.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place at St Mary’s Catholic Church Theddingworth Rd, Husbands Bosworth, Lutterworth LE17 6LY.
It was a beautiful warm and sunny day, as the guests started to arrive they were all in really good spirits, and wide smiles and laughter between each other. Perfect moments for those candid photos of the groom with friends and family.
When Megan arrived at the church with her bridesmaids in a vintage car, we quickly captured some traditional shots with all of the ladies and then some fun ones too.
I was instructed to keep to the back of the church by the vicar. I was lucky enough to have the back of the church and a small wooden staircase that lead to a big balcony area to capture some beautiful arial shots of the couple during their wedding ceremony.
The first kiss shot looked lovely with the stain glass window as the backdrop too.
As Megan and Callum had asked me beforehand in one of our meetings they wanted most of the group shots outside the church instead of at Kilworth House.
So we captured lots of more traditional style group shots with the bride and grooms family and friends. All enjoying the weather and celebration.
Couple Portraits & Groups
After the ceremony, we headed off to take full advantage of Kilworth House’s dry skies and sun shining down upon us for couples portraits. The light breeze and beaming sun provided the perfect conditions. Megan and Callum were naturals, clearly lost in the moment with one another, only needing a little direction for the photos, which always makes for the most genuine wedding photographs. Megan defiantly found this easier than Callum but this is totally normal a lot of the groom I photograph find posing awkward but I try to keep it a fun as I can!
We wandered along the gardens, and towards the front of the house, to capture lots of beautiful images. I think the bride and groom loved the courthouse area the most for photos as it was private and out of the way, not to mention its just such a pretty area at Kilworth House.
Why Kilworth House is a fantasic Wedding Venue
Megan and Callum chose Kilworth House not just for its stunning visuals but because it represented so much of what they loved a connection to heritage and a setting that brought everyone together. The venue’s ability to be both grand and welcoming, impressive yet intimate, made it an exceptional choice for their classic storybook wedding.
For any couple dreaming of a wedding that feels like stepping into a romantic story, with layers of history, beautiful surroundings, and luxurious details, Kilworth House offers all that and more.
