Jess & Phil’s Colourful Wedding at The Wash Shed Glamping

Jess and Phil chose The Wash Shed Glamping near Banbury for a wonderfully relaxed countryside wedding filled with bright colours, plenty of personality and lots of fun.

They booked me for two hours of wedding photography, covering their ceremony and the celebrations immediately afterwards. It was a shorter booking, but still gave us plenty of time to capture the important moments, their guests and a lovely collection of photographs of the two of them together.

Surrounded by open countryside, it was a completely different style of wedding day. Colour played a big part in their celebrations, while Phil added another distinctive touch by getting married in his sailor’s uniform.

The weather worked beautifully for us too. It remained warm but slightly overcast, creating lovely soft light for their wedding photographs.

A Countryside Wedding at The Wash Shed Glamping

One of the lovely things about The Wash Shed is the sense of being out in the countryside and away from everything.

Jess and Phil embraced the outdoor setting for their wedding, using bright and bold colours that looked fantastic against the more natural surroundings.

It gave the whole day a fun and informal character that really suited them.

Phil wore his sailor’s uniform for the ceremony, which made their photographs instantly personal to them and added something completely different to the day.

Jess & Phil’s Wedding Ceremony

With the countryside surrounding them, Jess and Phil were married in front of their family and friends.

During the ceremony, I concentrated on capturing the moments naturally as they happened. As well as photographing Jess and Phil, I was watching their guests for the smiles, reactions and little interactions that help tell the complete story of a wedding.

The slightly overcast conditions were also perfect for photography. Bright sunshine isn’t always the easiest light to work with, particularly during an outdoor ceremony where there is little control over positioning.

Cloud cover acts almost like a huge natural diffuser, softening the light and reducing harsh shadows across faces. For Jess and Phil, it meant we had beautifully even light while still enjoying a warm day outdoors.

Having Fun with the Wedding Photographs

After the ceremony, there was no shortage of opportunities for photographs.

Jess and Phil were great fun to photograph, and their guests were more than happy to get involved too.

We captured the important group photographs, but I also wanted the photography to reflect the informal atmosphere of the wedding rather than make everyone stand around posing for too long.

There was plenty of laughter and interaction, which gave me the chance to photograph the personalities of the people who were there rather than simply creating a record of who attended.

Relaxed Couple Portraits in the Countryside

I took Jess and Phil away for a little time together for their couple portraits, making the most of the countryside surrounding The Wash Shed.

The natural setting worked brilliantly with the colourful feel of their wedding and gave us plenty of opportunities to create a varied collection of portraits.

We mixed some gently directed photographs with more natural moments, walking, talking and having fun together.

I always want my couples to recognise themselves in their photographs. The aim isn’t to turn them into models for an hour. A little direction helps with positioning and light, but the laughter, expressions and interaction between them need to be genuine.

With Jess and Phil, there was plenty of that to capture.

Bright Colours and Plenty of Personality

I loved the amount of colour Jess and Phil brought into their wedding.

The bright, bold choices stood out beautifully against the countryside and gave the photographs a completely different character from a more traditional wedding.

Alongside Phil’s sailor’s uniform and the relaxed outdoor setting, there were little reminders throughout the day that this was very much their wedding.

Those individual choices are always some of my favourite things to photograph.

Two Hours of Wedding Photography Near Banbury

Jess and Phil’s wedding at The Wash Shed Glamping was full of personality.

Although I was with them for just two hours, we fitted a lot into that time. I photographed their outdoor ceremony, their family and friends, the fun immediately afterwards and a relaxed collection of couple portraits in the surrounding countryside.

A shorter wedding photography booking can work really well for couples who don’t need full-day coverage but still want the important part of their wedding professionally captured.

Most of all, Jess and Phil made those two hours great fun. They were relaxed, their guests were ready to get involved, and the result was a colourful collection of photographs that captured not just how their wedding looked, but how it felt to be there.
