Winter Wedding Photography for Jess & Ben, I was delighted to be Jess & Ben’s wedding photographer for their intimate winter wedding in January 2026. Despite the freezing temperatures and a crisp frost covering the ground, the day was filled with warmth, laughter and some truly beautiful moments to capture.

The Ceremony

Jess and Ben chose to celebrate with a small gathering of their closest family and friends, creating a relaxed and personal atmosphere throughout the ceremony. As a wedding photographer, these smaller weddings often provide some of the most meaningful moments, allowing genuine emotions and interactions to unfold naturally.

From the smiles shared between family members to the excitement surrounding the next chapter of their lives, there were countless moments worth preserving. Looking back through their photographs in years to come, I have no doubt one of the things they’ll remember most is just how close they were to welcoming their newest family member into the world.

Natural Wedding Photography

The morning itself was exceptionally cold, with temperatures dropping to around -5°C, but the conditions could not have been better for photography. The clear skies and low winter sun created beautiful, soft light that added warmth and depth to the images whilst still preserving the atmosphere of a genuine winter wedding day.

One of the advantages of winter wedding photography is the quality of the light. The sun remains lower in the sky throughout the day, creating flattering light and allowing for naturally romantic portraits without needing to rely on dramatic posing or extensive editing.

Family Photographs & Couple Photos

Before moving on to the couple portraits, we worked through a carefully planned list of family group photographs. Having this prepared in advance helped everything run smoothly and ensured Jess and Ben could spend more time enjoying their wedding day with family and friends.

With the formal photographs complete, I spent some time with Jess and Ben and their two children capturing a collection of natural family photographs together. These images became some of my favourites from the day, documenting not only their wedding but also an important moment in their family’s story as they prepared to welcome a new arrival.

For their couple portraits, Jess and Ben wanted photographs that felt relaxed, natural and authentic to them. Rather than heavily posed images, we focused on simple interactions, genuine expressions and allowing them to enjoy a few quiet moments together. Combined with the beautiful winter sunshine and frosty surroundings, this created a collection of elegant and timeless photographs that reflected both their personalities and the atmosphere of the day.

A few weeks after the wedding, I was delighted to hear that Jess had safely given birth to a beautiful baby girl, making these photographs even more special as a record of such an important chapter in their lives.
