Holly and Dan’s wedding at Catthorpe Manor near Lutterworth was a lovely occasion to photograph, with a traditional ceremony, plenty of family photographs and some beautiful portraits of the two of them together.

It was a fairly cool spring day, but thankfully the weather was on our side when we needed to be outside. Holly and Dan had a clear idea of the photographs they wanted, and I really enjoyed working with them to capture everything without taking too much time away from their celebrations.

Before the Ceremony

I arrived at Catthorpe Manor and began by photographing Dan with his groomsmen as they waited for the ceremony to begin.

I also spent some time capturing guests arriving and greeting one another. It’s a nice opportunity to photograph everyone before the formal part of the day begins, particularly those little moments when friends and family see each other for the first time.

When Holly arrived, I managed to capture a few photographs of her with her bridal party before they headed inside.

She looked beautiful in her simple, elegant wedding dress, and I particularly liked the understated style she had chosen.

Holly & Dan’s Wedding Ceremony

During the ceremony, I concentrated on photographing Holly and Dan exchanging their vows, alongside the reactions of their guests.

There were some lovely emotional moments, with a few happy tears as well as plenty of smiles.

I particularly enjoyed capturing the expressions between Holly and Dan throughout the ceremony. These are often the photographs that tell you the most about how a couple was feeling, without needing anything to be arranged or posed.

Once they were married, it was time to head outside for the photographs with their family and friends.

Confetti and Family Photographs at Catthorpe Manor

We had quite a short window between the ceremony and wedding breakfast, so I needed to keep the photography moving.

I started by organising everyone for the confetti photographs. It’s always a fun moment to capture, and I love seeing the reactions when the confetti goes up!

We then gathered all the guests together in front of Catthorpe Manor for a photograph of the whole wedding party.

The front of the building provided a lovely backdrop, and with everyone already together, it was the ideal opportunity to capture the larger group before moving on to the smaller family photographs Holly and Dan had requested.

Having a clear list of group photographs made a real difference, and we managed to get through everything without keeping guests waiting around for too long.

A Little Romance in Their Couple Portraits

With the family photographs finished, I had some time with Holly and Dan to capture their portraits together.

They were happy for me to give them some direction and wanted a mixture of traditional wedding photographs with a little romance.

I really enjoyed this part of their wedding because they trusted me to guide them and were comfortable trying a few different poses.

I kept the photographs relaxed, using the surroundings at Catthorpe Manor to create some lovely portraits without making things feel too formal.

The result was a collection of photographs that felt natural to Holly and Dan, while still having the elegant, romantic style they wanted.

Looking Back at Holly & Dan’s Wedding

What I particularly enjoyed about Holly and Dan’s wedding was being able to capture such a lovely variety of photographs in a relatively short amount of time.

From the anticipation before the ceremony and the emotional reactions of their guests to the confetti, family groups and romantic couple portraits, we managed to include everything that mattered to them.

I also appreciated how much freedom they gave me with their photographs. They knew the style they liked but were happy for me to use my experience to help create it.
