AmalfiRosie & Liam’s Summer Wedding at Hogarths Solihull
Rosie and Liam’s June wedding was one of those days that had a little bit of everything. From a lovely morning getting ready at Rosie & Liams home and an emotional first look with Rosie’s dad, to their Catholic ceremony in Warwick and a colourful celebration back at Hogarths Solihull.
The weather was just right too. Warm and bright without being uncomfortably hot, giving us plenty of opportunities to get outside and make the most of the beautiful grounds.
Getting Ready with Rosie and Her Bridesmaids
I started the day at Rosie & Liams home with Rosie, her bridesmaids and her mum as everyone got ready for the ceremony.
Bridal preparations are always such a lovely part of a wedding to photograph. There is excitement, anticipation and usually plenty of laughter as everything starts to come together.
I photographed Rosie with her bridesmaids and mum, alongside the smaller details and natural moments happening around me. Rather than everything being posed, I like to capture the atmosphere of the morning and the relationships between the people sharing it with the bride.
A First Look with Dad
Before leaving for the church, we arranged a first look between Rosie and her dad in the garden.
I positioned Rosie ready for him and then let the moment happen naturally.
Seeing his daughter as a bride for the first time created one of those wonderfully personal moments that needs very little direction from me. I was simply there to photograph the reaction, the emotion and the two of them together before the day moved on to the ceremony.
A Catholic Wedding Ceremony in Warwick
From their home, I travelled to St Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Warwick for Rosie and Liam’s wedding ceremony.
Church weddings give me the opportunity to work much more observationally. I photographed Rosie’s arrival, the ceremony itself and those important moments between Rosie and Liam while being respectful of the surroundings and the service taking place.
Once the ceremony was complete and Rosie and Liam were officially married, it was time to head to Solihull for the celebrations.
Back to Hogarths Solihull
Hogarths gave us a completely different setting for the rest of their wedding day.
Once everyone had arrived and settled into the reception, we could have some fun with the photography. Rosie and Liam were brilliant to work with and happy to get creative, which meant we could produce a really varied collection of couple portraits.
We walked around the grounds, found different backgrounds and mixed more romantic portraits with natural photographs of them interacting, laughing and enjoying some time together.
I never want this part of a wedding to feel like a long list of poses. Some gentle direction can help create a beautiful photograph, but the expressions and connection between a couple are always far more important.
Rosie and Liam made that particularly easy!
An Amalfi Inspired Wedding
Rosie and Liam had chosen an Amalfi theme for their wedding, with beautiful blues and yellows used throughout the room.
It brought a bright, summery feel to the reception and gave the wedding a really distinctive personality.
I always make time to photograph details like these. So much thought goes into how a wedding looks, from the colours and table settings through to the cake and smaller touches around the room, and they all form part of the story of the day.
From the Cake Cut to the First Dance
As the evening celebrations began, I was there to photograph Rosie and Liam cutting their wedding cake before everyone gathered for their first dance.
By this point in the day, everyone was completely relaxed and ready to enjoy themselves.
The first dance is always one of my favourite parts of the evening to photograph. I can step back, watch what is happening and capture the couple together along with the reactions of the friends and family surrounding them.
A Wonderful June Wedding at Hogarths
Rosie and Liam’s wedding was an absolute pleasure to photograph.
From the excitement of getting ready with Rosie, her bridesmaids and mum, and that special first look with her dad, through to their church ceremony and the celebrations at Hogarths, there were so many different moments throughout the day.
The weather was perfect, Rosie and Liam were fantastic in front of the camera and we had plenty of opportunities to get creative with their portraits.
Add in the colourful Amalfi styling, a beautiful venue and a couple who were clearly having an amazing time, and it made for a wonderful June wedding to photograph.
