Chloe and Joseph’s wedding at Heaton House Farm near Macclesfield was certainly worth the two-hour drive. From the moment I arrived, I could see just how much this venue had to offer for their wedding photography, with beautiful open countryside, immaculate grounds and so many different places to create their portraits.

We were also treated to lovely September sunshine. There was a little wind to contend with, but nothing that was going to get in the way of what turned out to be a stunning day.

A Personal Ceremony at Heaton House Farm

Chloe and Joseph made their ceremony particularly personal by writing and sharing their own vows. They also included a sand ceremony, creating another lovely moment to capture as part of their wedding story.

A pianist played during the ceremony, adding to the atmosphere as Chloe and Joseph exchanged their vows surrounded by their family and friends. The live piano continued during the wedding breakfast too, providing a beautiful soundtrack to the celebrations.

There was a real sense that they had made the day their own rather than simply following a standard wedding format.

Countryside Wedding Photography

One of the things I loved about photographing at Heaton House Farm was the sheer variety of locations available for photographs.

The lawns gave us fantastic views across the surrounding countryside, creating a beautiful natural backdrop for Chloe and Joseph’s couple portraits. With the sunshine, blue skies and open landscape, we had plenty of opportunities to create relaxed photographs while still capturing the scale and beauty of the venue.

Chloe and Joseph were happy to take a little direction, allowing me to make the most of the different locations without their photographs ever needing to feel overly posed.

A Barn Just for Wedding Photographs

Then I discovered something I absolutely loved – Heaton House Farm even has a barn specifically designed to provide additional photography opportunities.

For a wedding photographer, having another completely different setting available without having to leave the venue is fantastic. It gave us the chance to introduce a different look and feel to Chloe and Joseph’s gallery while keeping everything relaxed and allowing them to get back to their guests.

Between the barn, lawns, buildings and surrounding countryside, we were genuinely spoilt for choice.

Sunset Wedding Photography at Heaton House Farm

Later in the day, the light gave us one final opportunity.

As the sun began to drop, the whole feel of the venue changed. The warm evening light across the countryside looked incredible, so I took Chloe and Joseph outside again for a few final portraits.

These sunset photographs became another completely different part of their wedding gallery and were well worth taking a few minutes away from the celebrations to capture.

Sparklers to Finish the Evening

As darkness arrived, there was still one more moment to photograph. Chloe and Joseph headed outside with their guests for sparklers, creating a brilliant ending to the evening and another completely different set of photographs.

After the natural daylight of the ceremony, countryside portraits and warm sunset photographs, the sparklers gave us something fun and atmospheric to finish their wedding story.

From their personal vows and sand ceremony to the live pianist, beautiful countryside, sunset portraits and sparklers at the end of the night, Chloe and Joseph had created a wedding that felt completely personal to them.

Heaton House Farm was an absolute pleasure to photograph, and after spending the day exploring everything the venue had to offer, the two-hour journey home was very much worth it.
