how My COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY Works

Define the Brief

The first task is to work together to understand and develop the brief or scope of work. It is typical clients have a principle idea of what they require, with a degree of steering and advice. The logistical aspects can also be discussed, such as time estimates, managing the shoot on the day, facilities, managing multiple visits, urgency and the styling aspects. With the brief defined, clients have confidence that the scope of work and photography will be professionally delivered.

Define Time Required

Time requirements can vary from clients having a structured and defined briefs, to clients requesting a more dynamic or creative approach and some clients opting to block out a set time period to capture a variety of images. Emma will happily take time to discuss your requirements in more detail and assist you with understanding and confirming your time requirements. Tariffs are generally tailored around Emma’s standard time bands, for example 2-4hrs, half or full days.

Tailor Quotation

Working closely with clients, Emma will have a a clearly defined brief and discussed the objectives of the commercial photography, as well as the creative and styling aspects. In addition, Emma will have discussed the time requirements, including whether multiple visits are required. This will enable Emma to generate a quotation or estimate if opting for dynamic shoots. Invoices are raised on booking your shoot, with payment terms of 30days post your shoot date.

Conduct the Shoot

The shear variety of Commercial Photography shoots Emma conducts will astound, whether that’s working with Owners, Marketing Directors or Creative Agencies within multi-disciplinary teams, to working on a 1-1 basis with clients to capture the required commercial photography. Emma will clear communicate setup requirements and logistics prior to the shoot, with shoots designed to be discreet and minimising disruption. Emma will take charge on the day and ensure the shoots are conducted effectively and efficiently to high professional standards.

Post Shoot Editing

Following the photoshoot Emma will review the imagery captured on the shoot, and depending on the brief will work with clients to identify commercial photographs desired for post shoot editing. Editing can consist of light editing, such as cropping, resizing and file formatting, to moderate editing such as altering or manipulating one or more images such as altering skin, teeth and eye complexions, or removing objects like overhead electricity wires, lamp posts, or simply altering the colours of skies and surfaces. All the way to the advance forms of editing to heavy alter images.

Sign off & Completion

Depending on the brief, some images may be incorporated into graphic design pieces, however, most images post shoot editing are provided for client sign off, with any further editing or amendments applied. Once clients are absolutely happy, the commercial photography shoot can be signed off. Images are released under commercial license for use, once payment is received. With so many happy commercial photography client’s, it not a surprise that many re-book Emma as they require support and others have Emma on speed-dial for regular work pre-scheduled or adhoc.
