Amy & Luke’s beautiful March wedding at Mythe Barn in Leicestershire was such a wonderful day to capture. I had the pleasure of being their Wedding Photographer for their celebrations at this stunning countryside barn venue, documenting everything from the emotional morning preparations through to the relaxed evening celebrations with natural and timeless wedding photography.
Weddings at Mythe Barn
Set against the tranquil backdrop of the Leicestershire hills, Mythe Barn provided the perfect stage for Amy and Luke’s beautiful March wedding. The day kicked off in the elegant dressing suite, where Amy spent a morning filled with laughter and anticipation. Watching her prepare to marry Luke, it was clear that this was the day they had both been waiting for. From the quiet, emotional moments with her closest friends to the grand celebration at Mythe Barn, the day was a seamless blend of joy and style. Capturing these milestone memories for such a wonderful couple was a highlight of the season.
The Ceremony
A Day of Timeless Magic at Mythe Barn
From the moment I stepped into the Oak Barn, I knew this day was going to be magic. Surrounded by those magnificent timber frames and the light pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the setting was perfect for the timeless elegance Amy and Luke had created.
The aesthetic choice of creams, greens for the florals brought such a clean, classic feel to the entire day. The palette felt perfectly at home against the barn’s natural wood, flowing seamlessly from the sun-drenched aisle to the wedding breakfast in the Grain Store.
The ceremony was beautifully conducted, but the atmosphere truly shifted when Amy and Luke read their own vows. It was beautiful and frankly, adorable that they both read the vows with such love and emotion, I’m sure Luke cried more than Amy!
Group & Couple Photos
A Bright March Day at Mythe Barn, Once the ceremony concluded, Amy and Luke headed into the main hall to share a few cheers and welcome drinks with their guests. We were keeping a close eye on the weather; it was a classic March afternoon where the “blessing of sunshine” was playing hide-and-seek with light passing showers.
The garden portraits were the most important part of the day for Amy and Luke. We were determined to make these count, between the light showers and slight chill in the air.
We headed out into the Mythe Barn gardens, making the most of the vibrant March landscape:
Early Spring Colours: The trees still held those deep reds and oranges, which looked incredibly rich and saturated thanks to the light rain.
The March Sun when the clouds parted, that beautiful, low-angled sun created a stunning glow through the trees. We worked quickly between the raindrops to capture a mix of natural, candid moments and some slightly more posed portraits. With the daylight beginning to fade and the drizzle never far away, we moved to the main back lawn for the group photos.
Time was of the essence, but the groomsmen and bridal party were on top of it. They did a fantastic job of rounding up each group, ensuring we stayed efficient and kept the momentum going. It’s a huge help when the wedding party is that organised, it meant we could get everyone back into the warmth of the Barn just as the March air started to cool!
Those “wet-weather” portraits often end up being the favourites because the colours are so much more intense than on a dry, washed-out day.
Since it was March, did they manage to get any of those iconic Mythe Barn shots by the big oak doors, or did you stick mostly to the gardens to catch that low sun? You bet we did!
The Wedding Breakfast
Before the doors opened and the room filled with the hum of celebration, I took a moment to capture the Grain Store at Mythe Barn in its quiet perfection. From the sweeping floral arch to the delicate emerald accents, these are the details that define a couple’s vision.
Once the guests were seated, the atmosphere shifted to pure joy. We were treated to 3 incredible speeches that struck the perfect balance of heartfelt stories and raucous laughter, leaving the room and the happy couple beaming from ear to ear.
The best toast was from Amy’s father who handed them a slice of teddy, certainly made everyone laugh!
The Wedding Day
I had the most wonderful day watching this couple get married, you could see the love they had for each other. It really did show all day!
As ever the Mythe Barn team were a well oiled machine and looked after the day perfectly.
I really wish this couple all of the best for the future.
